Current Drugstore Beauty Favorites

I’ve been using a few new drugstore beauty products these past few months and actually used most of them on my wedding day. Here are the products I’m loving right now:

L’Oréal Voluminous Superstar Mascara: I love that this mascara is a two-in-one with a primer. It seriously makes your lashes look long and voluminous and like you are wearing lash extensions!

Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer: I’ve tried several drugstore brow gels, but this one is by far my favorite. The wand actually fills in your brows with small fibers to make them look much thicker! I have this product in the soft brown color.

L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation: Now that the cooler weather is setting in and my dry skin is getting even drier, I’m looking for a drugstore foundation that gives me good coverage and leaves it glowing. The Pro-Matte version of this foundation got a lot of love and good reviews. While I liked the product in general, it just looked dry and patchy on my skin. However, I’m absolutely loving the Pro-Glow! My skin looks more luminous and even, and the foundation feels so light on my face! I definitely recommend the foundation for normal-to-dry skin. I have the shade in 204.

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick in Nude Glow: I’ve been loving this highlighter stick for a few months (I even used it on my wedding day!). It is such an amazing highlighter and gives you a glow without being glittery or sparkly!

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Golden Days: As far as I know, this is only sold at Ulta, but at $6, it feels on par with some of the high-end bronzers at Sephora. This does have a slight shimmer to it, but that’s why I bought it (and also used it on my wedding day). I used it on my cheekbones and temples over my matte contour and it gave me the perfect sun-kissed glow.

Garnier SkinActive Ultra-Lift Miracle Wake-Up Cream: I’ve been using this gel serum every morning for awhile. It totally wakes my skin up and makes it feel fresh and hydrated!

Quick Foundation Tip For Glowy Skin

IMG_5985
I have very dry skin even when I’m feeling hydrated, so I’m always looking for ways to make my makeup feel dewy and glowy. I pretty much only use drugstore foundations and even though I’ll choose formulas that highlight the words “illuminating” “hydrating” “radiance”, sometimes my skin still doesn’t look the part after application. In fact, a lot of times my skin still looks dry, cakey and a bit flakey. Not cute! After way too many hours watching YouTube videos, I came across a tip from Jaclyn Hill. When she wants that extra glow she adds a drop of oil into her foundation before she applies it. Genius. I know some people are skeptical of oils but I’ve whole heartedly embraced them these past few years and had no problem with testing out her tip. It honestly works SO well. I’ve been doing it that way ever since!

What I’ll do is take a pump of foundation to the back of my hand and then add a drop of oil – right now I’m using Maybelline Dream Mouse and Nude ProGenius Rescue Oil. Then I’ll take buffing brush and swirl it on the back of my hand to pick up the mixture and dab it on the key points of my face. Then I’ll go in with a beauty sponge and really work it in to my skin. Sometimes, if I want that extra radience, I’ll add a pump of Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer to my hand before applying!

If you have normal to dry skin, I highly recommend you try it!
